John Piper Watercolour gouache and ink

This watercolour on paper must have been bought direct from the artist as it still had the brown paper tape around the edge that artists use to stretch paper onto a board. The artist has sliced over the tape with his knife and onto the watercolour whilst removing the paper.  The painting had not been framed so therefore was suffering from surface scratches and creasing. As part of the treatment the gum tape was removed. the knife cuts where strengthed on the rear with Japanese tissue, the surface was mechanically cleaned and scratches toned in. The paper was then humidified and pressed. It is now ready to be mounted and framed.
